⏱ 35 min· normal· Serves 4

INGREDIENTS

  • 500g Yellowfin Tuna Steak
  • 1 Onion
  • 2 Tomato
  • 2 tsp Garlic Paste
  • 2 tsp Ginger Paste
  • 4 tbsp Cooking Oil
  • 0.5 tsp Ground Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Ground Cumin
  • 2 tsp Ground Coriander
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 0.5 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 240ml Water
  • 8g Coriander
  • 1 tsp Salt

STEPS

  1. 1

Thaw 500g of yellowfin tuna steak safely in the refrigerator if frozen. Pat dry, cut into bite-sized pieces, and season with 1 tsp of salt.

  2. 2

Heat 4 tbsp of cooking oil in a wide pan over medium heat. Add 1 onion (finely chopped) and cook for 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly golden.

  3. 3

Add 2 tsp of garlic paste and 2 tsp of ginger paste and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Add 0.5 tsp of ground turmeric, 1 tsp of ground cumin, 2 tsp of ground coriander, and 0.5 tsp of red chilli powder, then stir for 30 seconds.

    ⏱ 2 min

  4. 4

Add 2 tomatoes (finely chopped) and 240ml of water. Simmer uncovered for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes break down and the masala becomes thick and glossy.

    ⏱ 8 min

  5. 5

Add the seasoned 500g of yellowfin tuna steak pieces to the masala and gently coat them. Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 8 to 10 minutes, turning once, until the tuna is opaque throughout and flakes easily. Check the thickest piece with a thermometer if available, it should reach at least 63°C.

    ⏱ 8 min

  6. 6

Stir in 1 tsp of garam masala and finish with 8g of coriander (chopped). Rest off the heat for 2 minutes, then serve.
